My husband put a book into my hand: Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.
“Read it,” he said. I did.
That was a few months ago, October last year perhaps.
Before reading the book, I didn’t know what to make of my life: - I had a “good-looking” academic life: went to primary school in Japan, went to secondary school in China, and completed a university degree in Oxford. - I had a reasonably “good-looking” career path: joined Deloitte upon graduation, got my Chartered Tax Advisor certificate, moved to KPMG, and then became part-time and started an education consultancy. - BUT: I had become lazy. I wasn’t pushing myself in either my tax advisor work or education consultant work. And that’s not because I was improving myself in some other ways. In short, I didn’t feel fulfilled, but was simply too lazy to do anything about it.
Then I read Rich Dad Poor Dad. This is what happened afterwards: - I started investing in shares. - I launched my website www.trilingualmind.com. - I started a new project: I'm trying to turn the moisturiser that I made at home and used every morning into a marketable product.
Now my life is loaded with uncertainties: - The cash deposit that used to sit in the bank safely -> Stock and shares with no guaranteed return. - Stable working style -> Busy and challenging, not sure what I will achieve and where life would take me. - Jing who didn’t feel fulfilled -> A motivated Jing who believes she can achieve as long as she works towards it.
In short, I upgraded myself. I have now become Jing+.
